The time has come yet again for critics and bloggers across the Internet to compile top lists of the music, movies, TV, books, podcasts, meals, coffee beans, blankets (okay maybe not the last two, but I wouldn’t be surprised) they most enjoyed this year — and I’m not mad. There’s always something from somewhere you may have missed that someone else liked enough to include in their best of the year. For me this collective cultural exercise is most useful in highlighting movies and TV shows I need to stop putting off, but for the purposes of this post I’ve done as I have in 2013 and 2014 and put together my Top 10 Tracks of 2015 (and 40 more) playlist for your entertainment.
Maybe I’ll get tired of them after a decade or so but for now it’s nice to wrap the year up into a neat 50 track Spotify playlist; leading off with the 10 tracks I think were among the best and that I listened to most, plus 40 more of my favorite tracks from artists and projects that are worth a spin generally organized by genre.
Look at it as a gateway playlist to albums you may have overlooked, or my 2015 in Music playlist-lite. Special shoutout to the new (to me at least) artists on the list including PhonyPpl, Lianne La Havas, Astronauts etc., Oddisee, Tuxedo, Ibeyi, Leon Bridges, Alessia Cara, and Matthew E. White — check ’em out. 2015 was a big year for music, here’s to sharing many more. You can follow me on Spotify here.
